Life is all about timing.
And the greatest stories come together at the hands of timing too- serendipitous, surprising, and often, precisely what you need at the very moment you need it... and not a minute sooner. Patience is not a virtue of mine, nor of some of the best people I know, but certain things in life- first impressions, second chances, good opportunities, great loves- come to us in their own time, when we're really and truly ready.
Everyone that's never been to New Orleans has a very distinct, imagined perception of it- and Catherine & Tom's wedding personified their favorite things about their beloved city: amazing food, heavenly music, and a beautifully celebratory weekend, all with a perfect jazz soundtrack. Their ceremony was held on one of New Orleans' oldest footbridges, the Magnolia Bridge over the Bayou St John, on a lovely spring day. Their reception was just a few steps away, in the shaded gardens of the historic Pitot House, with Cajun music (complete with the Cajun two-step!) and local food trucks. The day ended with a second line parade down Canal Street. It was just as I'd imagined New Orleans to be- a dreamy, happy day.
To Catherine and Tom and your lovely families- thank you for everything. You and your city made an impression on my heart, and I'm so thrilled to have been a part of your wedding. Love, happiness, and many years of adventure to you both.
Update! Catherine and Tom's beautiful wedding is still one of my very favorites I've ever had the honor to photograph- and it's recently been featured on both Snippet & Ink, The Frosted Petticoat, and The Significant Space. Go check them out!
