Everyone's heard that a rainy wedding day is good luck. It's cleansing, it brings riches, and for me, it turns the sky into a dreamy, diffused fog of lovely lighting and an excuse to do something a little different. But mostly, and more importantly, it brings out the best in couples- you're forced to roll with the punches like a perfect primer for marriage, and rain brings everyone huddled in together in a cozy celebration that wouldn't be possible without that lucky rain.
A cozy, intimate wedding isn't always easy to come by, but nestled inside the sweet Whitefield Chapel in Savannah, there it was. Everything was gorgeous. The bride's handmade dress was made with vintage lace and pieces from her mother's wedding gown. The flowers, the music, the chapel windows streaming with light. We braved the skies with umbrellas, watched the sun come out as we took photos after the ceremony, and saw a rainbow on the way to the reception. No one could ask for a better omen than that. (Well, then deservingly-famous Leopold's served ice cream to all the wedding guests in Reynolds Square at the end of the night. That's a pretty great omen too.)
Jennie and Zach- thank you so much for having me be a part of your beautiful wedding. Love, happiness, and the best kind of luck to you both always. xo
