The last few years have brought a lot of changes for all of us- changed plans, changed paths, changed perspectives- and in a corner of the world like the wedding industry, these changes were felt in a way that most of us never expected. But change can be good- so good- and rising first as necessity but sticking around as a new(ish) normal has been the lovely little niche of elopements. I’ve always loved them and have sung the benefits of eloping for years, and it’s been the most welcome opportunity to capture more than ever before. Leigh and Jay’s was the perfect example: a love letter to eloping. October in the mountains is always beautiful, but with the leaves just hinting at a change and a sky that spared us the rain but delivered big on mood, this October felt different. Maybe it was the way Leigh and Jay laughed through their wedding day, genuinely enjoying each other’s company. Maybe it was the speeches as their families toasted to their marriage and the happy day that brought them all together. Maybe it was the simplicity of eloping come to life, where the day can breathe and the superfluous stuff just melts away. Whatever it was, it was wonderful and I’m so glad I got to be a part of it. L + J, congratulations! Wishing you both the happiest days, always. xo, Krista
