"It was karma, it was kismet, it was magic. It doesn't matter how it happened, just that it did." - Shannon Hale
Whenever I meet a couple for the first time- sometimes over coffee or cocktails, sometimes over speaker phone when we're in different time zones- one of the first questions I ask is how they met. I love the story that each couple tells me, because even if it's as simple as meeting online or being college sweethearts, it's the true beginning of their story, when the stars aligned and the timing was right and that little bit of magic that's necessary for every story to begin was present and doing its thing. When Deidre-Ann had an extra ticket to a Bonobo show in San Francisco a few years ago, some phone calls were made, those stars aligned, and a chance meeting with a friend of a friend turned into Lenny accepting that extra ticket without ever having met Deidre-Ann before... a lovely leap of faith indeed. At their wedding in the land of magic-come-to-life (New Orleans, of course), the love from their families and friends swept through the courtyards of Race + Religious. They celebrated and second-lined. They danced in the rain. And they reminded every one of us that witnessed the start of their next chapter that magic is real and that love is everything. Here's to serendipity, Deidre and Lenny, and the universe making sense. ♡
