These two have been fast favorites of mine since our very first emails, and when I got to meet them in person when they traveled to Atlanta a few weeks later, it was just the greatest reminder of why I do what I do. This lovely world of weddings has allowed me to meet people I might never have crossed paths with otherwise, and I’ve met so many kind and wonderful couples over the years. But when they become friends in the process, that’s just the best bonus ever- and I love when life unfolds that way.
Kyla and Jillian live in Philadelphia- a city that just so happens to be extra close to my heart because it’s where my family’s from! And when they asked if we could have their engagement session in Philly, I was pumped and couldn’t say yes fast enough. (Visions of cheesesteaks dancing in my head, of course.) When I got into town for our shoot a few months later, we made a whole morning of it: bracing the winds beneath the Ben Franklin Bridge, exploring Old City and its cherry blossom-dusted streets, venturing off the beaten path, and ending it all with beers and PB&J burgers in Manayunk. We talked about family and life and politics and things decidedly non-wedding related, and it was really just the nicest way to cap off our time together. The next day, I traveled back home to Atlanta feeling extra grateful- for this job, for that weekend, and especially to have met humans like these two. Don’t you just love when life happens that way? ❤
